"I loved this story! The characters are vivid, each with their own motivation and very real conflicts, made the story even more satisfying for romantic suspense readers. The characters are emotional and stubborn as the chemistry sizzles danger mounts. The list of suspects is large. I had no idea who the stalker was until the end. This is the first of a series. The Last Resort

    A Wanderlust Mystery
Five Star, an imprint of Gale/Cengage Learning - June 2009

The romantic symbolism of bottles containing proclamations of love and being tossed out to sea have intrigued people for as long as there have been bottles. Oceanographers have charted these romantic journeys; Hollywood has made blockbuster movies out of the tenderness of the notion. The bottle that had been hurled out in the Atlantic on a balmy spring day from St. Augustine Harbor contained no messages of undying love and passion. Nor did it contain charts or maps of shipwrecks. What it did contain was secrets, lies, betrayals, and the most unspeakable of crimes - murder. And, just as the journey of the bottle itself, it would alter the course and direction of many lives beginning with the life of whoever discovered this message in a bottle.

"A bobbing bottle in the ocean pulls readers into a dark tale of love gone wrong in The Last Resort. Author April Star waves a compelling tale of honor and betrayal."

Carolyn Hart - Best Selling Author of Death of Demand, Henrie O, and the new Bailey Ruth Raeburn Mystery Series.

  • RV Having Fun?
    by April Star
    Product Description
As manager of an RV resort for over ten years, and as a camper for over sixteen years, I took both sides of the RV lifestyle and tried to humorously, but honestly, portray a season of campground management. JD and Marilyn London are the managers of Swaying Palms RV Resort and, in RV Having Fun, the dynamic duo have two entirely different points of views of campground management.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Read!, October 14, 2007
Years ago, in my younger days, my dad owned an RV and he was always wanting to load up the family and whisk us away for a camping adventure for several days. I remember that I thought those who were in charge of these campsites were really lucky. After all, they got to meet new people just about everyday and live in a forever vacation zone. Never did I take into account the many little hazards that they may face everyday just to keep the RV Resort running smoothly.
    Ah! the fun begins.

In this delightful tale we are taken into the world of a couple who manage an RV resort and we are given an inside look at their world, both good and bad. You will giggle away as you meet some very snotty people, a cat with an attitude, and a dog who is definitely King of camp. I enjoyed this read. It was light and fun and left me with a smile.

  • The Mourning After
    by April Star
    Product Description
I grew up in South Florida at a time when the “mean streets” were safe and carefree for a child. Like all big cities, Miami and the surrounding area soon felt the tides of change with homicides on the increase and safety on the streets a thing of the past. I doubt I was ever more affected by any of the brutalities that hit the news than that of the kidnapping and murder of six-year-old Adam Walsh on July 27, 1981. I recall wishing I was in law enforcement and what and how I would help bring closure and healing to the Walsh family. The Mourning After is a piece of fiction which had been brewing in my mind for decades. Upon the completion I realized, with the pain of my own emotions, why I hadn't completed it much earlier. It is the story of a brutal and senseless murder and a female homicide officer, Tara Mitchell, and her passion through pain for justice.

I enjoyed this short and touching story about a homicide dectective trying to find a brutal child killer very much! At first it was a bit hard to follow because of flashbacks, but eventually I really got into the story and Tara's search to catch the killer. The story was intriguing and kept my attention as I couldn't wait to see what would happen. I enjoyed the fast pace and found it to be a quick read.

I was a bit disappointed to see it end. I wish it had been a longer story. I enjoyed the glimpse at both Tara's work and home life and found myself wanting to know more. I believe that this short story would make a fascinating longer story that I would love to read. Tara Mitchell is a fascinating character and I would love to read more about her.
